Pet Dental Care

We take pride in our knowledge and commitment to treat dental disease in cats and dogs. We have a separate dental suite equipped with state of the art equipment to make the best decisions for you and your pet. This is a quiet area dedicated to dental treatment to ensure the utmost care is taken.

Dental disease is the most common health condition in adult dogs and cats and is entirely preventable. If left untreated bacteria will invade the surrounding tissue and structures and move into the bloodstream affecting vital organs such as the liver, kidneys and heart. It is also painful. We can not judge comfort simply by their willingness to eat or play. If you have ever had a cavity, gingivitis or infected tooth, you can relate to the constant ache and discomfort.

You could not imagine going to the dentist and not having x-rays done, right? That’s because up to 40% of the problems are completely undetectable on visual examination- we simply cannot see them. Using our state of the art digital dental radiograph unit, we will identify all of the problems and know that we have treated the problems, not just the appearance of the teeth.

While we know it is worrisome for your pet to be put under general anesthesia, it is required for us to scale, polish and probe around each tooth. We take all the necessary steps to be as safe as possible when putting your pet under anesthesia. If teeth must be removed due to disease or painful lesions, then we will use local blocks, therapeutic laser and adequate pain medications to help keep them comfortable.

Once we have treated the dental disease, we can discuss a home dental care program that works for your whole family. This can include a combination of chews, special food, water additives, pet toothpaste and toothbrush.
