Meet Our Doctors


Dr. Taylor Simmons

Dr. Taylor Simmons earned her bachelor’s degree from NC State University in Animal Science. She also received her doctorate from NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Simmons has a passion for soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and reproduction.

Outside of work, Dr. Simmons spends her time with her husband and two fur pups, Bear and Juno. They love outdoor activities such as rock climbing, fishing, and camping, as well as home projects like gardening and tending to their chickens.



Dr. Margaret Burtnett

Dr. Margaret Burtnett grew up near St. Louis, Missouri.  She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Webster University and a degree in veterinary medicine from the University of Missouri. She is Fear Free Certified, a movement to prevent fear and anxiety of pets during veterinary visits, and she has special interests in surgery and ultrasonography.

Dr. Burtnett and her husband have two daughters, Mia and Olivia, and two rescue dogs, Penny and Kona. In their free time they enjoy fishing, hiking, and camping as a family.



Dr. Shanice Harris

Dr. Shanice Harris grew up on a farm in rural southwest Nebraska. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Nebraska - Omaha and graduated with her doctorate in veterinary medicine from Kansas State University. She has a strong interest in both orthopedic and soft tissue surgery and all aspects of internal medicine.

Dr. Harris spends most of her free time with her husband, their three cats, Kovu, Kiara, and Zira, and their Golden Retriever, Dug. They are new to North Carolina and enjoy exploring different areas on the weekends. They love going to the gym together and have been taking advantage of all the beautiful outdoor activities the state has to offer.
